The Supposable Thumbs have dedicated themselves to enabling more teams to participate in FTC by lowering the often steep learning curve. One area many new teams struggle with is knowing how to get started with the engineering notebook. We are excited to announce that FTC’s first ever engineering notebook application is ready for wide spread use!
This application is designed to give teams needing simple way to produce beautiful engineering notebooks a quick way to get started without having to master all the tools that doing something completely custom entails. Use the application and a simple print function to generate amazing looking output, customized to your team’s look and your team’s process. If you are working from a Windows 10 tablet, you can take pictures with the tablet straight into the application or you can save images while working and come back and add them later. If working from a Windows 10 PC, you can use any device to take pictures and transfer them to the PC and create content from there.
The output application allows you to have custom ‘tabs’ for each robot area and custom process steps. Each member of your team can author and include as many others in the contribution to the log as needed. You can track tasks accomplished, tasks remaining, enter the log using several helpful content types that let you control how the output looks and wrap it all up with reflection.

Instructional Video:
The Thumbs are working on an instructional video that will be posted to YouTube by the end of September. This isn’t needed to get started, but we thought it might help teams train their teams on how to use it. This video will give a high-level walkthrough of the application.
